This talk delivered by Professor Lawrence Wong, Emeritus Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, explored the comprehensive application of emerging medical technologies in stroke prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Professor Wong began with the basic concepts of stroke and gradually introduced the use of technological devices in the prevention stage, such as wearable technologies for monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, and sleep patterns. In the diagnostic stage, he highlighted the integration of fundus retinal imaging analysis with artificial intelligence to enable risk prediction and treatment triage. For treatment and rehabilitation, he presented the use of robot-assisted training to enhance rehabilitation outcomes and shared multiple successful real-world applications, before concluding with prospects for future developments in neuromedicine and rehabilitation.

HKU SPACE ALUMNI was honoured to invite Professor Enoch Young, a Council member of the HKU SPACE ALUMNI Council, to present a commemorative gift to Professor Wong. The event attracted over 70 alumni to attend in person and more than 110 to join via online live streaming. The atmosphere was enthusiastic, with active interactions during the Q&A session, where Professor Wong drew on his extensive experience to address questions in detail, bringing the talk to a successful close.
