Printer Cartridge Reuse & Recycling Programme

Hong Kong people generate an average of over 9,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day, and there is no comprehensive recycling system and no waste charging legislation, a large portion of our waste was disposed of at landfills. As a result, the landfills will be filled up in 4-6 years' time. To address such pressing waste problems, we all have to reduce waste at source and practice recycling.  Reusing or recycling used printer cartridges can be one of the solutions.

HKU SPACE ALUMNI has started participating in the "Printer Cartridge Reuse & Recycling Programme" by Friends of the Earth (HK) and OPAC International Limited since June 2012. Now, alumni can help our living place by the following two ways:

  • Drop any used printer cartridge into the collection box set up at our office at 6/F, United Centre, 95 Queensway, Admiralty (opening hours: Mon to Fri, 9:30am-1:00pm, 2:00pm-6:00pm); or

  • You or your institution can join the programme to receive door to door collection service at free for 10 or more used printer cartridges every time.

For every cartridge collected, it not only means a waste less at landfill, OPAC will also donate to Friends of the Earth for environmental work.
