Mentorship

Social Enterprises e-Society (SEES) offers a mentorship program in which experienced professionals serve as mentors to those in need of guidance to set up their social enterprises.  No matter which field your profession falls into, your time, expertise and advice are certainly valuable to encourage fellow students, alumni, staff and even the general public to engage in social entrepreneurship, thereafter mobilize the development of social entrepreneurship in Hong Kong.

Be Our Mentor

You are warmly welcome to be our Mentor if you are

  • Passionate about community service
  • Interested in coaching in business set-up
  • Expert in a field that might produce social entrepreneurship opportunities; or in a profession of business operation in general 

You can help the mentees by

  • Listening to their views and problems during the process of their business set-up
  • Sharing with them your views and experience
  • Giving them advice
  • Guiding them in writing the business plan
  • But NOT making decision for them because they are expected to make decisions for their own businesses 

Your communication with the mentees

  • Mostly over the internet (on the Forum of SEES) and e-communication
  • Mentees may initiate to organize some group activities but face-to-face mentoring should be limited depending on the need of the group and your availability 

Be Our Mentee

As a SEES Mentee, you are expected to be

  • Passionate about community service
  • Interested in social entrepreneurship
  • Devoted to set up a social enterprise or already running a business and wants to turn it into a social enterprise 

Your role and responsibilities

  • Come up with ideas of setting up a social enterprise
  • Share your ideas with your mentors and group-mates
  • Take initiative in contacting your mentors and/ or other mentees in your group
  • You can take initiative to organize activities for your group, but should consult and consider the availability of your mentor
